| | MycoApply® – seed inoculant pays big dividends Current agricultural practices of intensive chemical fertilisation and pest management, extensive cultivation, compaction, loss of organic matter, and erosion, reduce the biological activity in the soil, and more importantly, depletes the natural populations of mycorrhiza.
Farmers can reverse these negative impacts that result from intensive agricultural practices by seed coating with mycorrhiza fungi. This offers a more sustainable approach to broadacre establishment and plant growth. It also allows the plants to access the fixed phosphorous locked in the soil and increases the overall efficiency of nutrient uptake.
Thousands of scientific studies and trials have shown mycorrhiza provide many benefits for plant growth and for soil health. Now MAI Australia can supply a commercially produced mycorrhiza product (MycoApply®), which is readily available and economical to use.
MycoApply® is a blend of mycorrhiza spores that actively help plant germination, nutrition, water uptake and drought tolerance. Mycorrhiza spores germinate when in contact with plant roots and form filaments (hyphae). This creates a symbiotic relationship that improves the plants ability to uptake fixed nutrients and water, for the duration of the plant’s life. If a no-till practice is used the mycorrhiza spores will remain after harvest to benefit the next crop rotation
Integrating MycoApply® powder into your current seeding practices is easy and requires no special equipment. The economic return from mycorrhiza seed coating can exceed the cost several fold, due to reduction of fertiliser inputs producing better or similar yields, thus improving the bottom line. Minimum application for broadacre is 1kg of MycoApply® added to the seed used to sow one hectare.
